On Jeeps there are two coolant sensors . There’s one at the front of the engine in the thermostat housing, this one has two wires. Then there’s another at the back drivers topside of the engine cylinder head just to the right of the valve cover, this one has one wire. The one wire sensor in the back sends temp readings to the gauge in the Jeeps dash. If you temp gauge is not acting right, replace the one wire. The two wire sensor located in the thermostat housing sends its signal to the PCM. For poor performance issues and testing we’re going to look at the two wire up front.
The 600 four-cylinder engine’s firing order is 1-2-3-4. The idle speed should be set to between 450 rpm and 475 rpm. The initial timing at 475 rpm should be set to 8 degrees before top dead center (BTDC), and the distributor advance timing should be set to 29 to 31 degrees at 2,000 rpm. The breaker point gap should be checked with a feeler gauge and set to between. 024 inch and. 026 inch. They are what is suggested by Honda for the Civic for 2006-2011, but, I put them in my 2005 Civic Si, and they perform much better than the exact substitute ones for the K20A3. They are particularly good if you’re modding in a Civic Si, RSX, RSX Type-S, or anything else with a K20 engine.
